Hemp

Humans have utilized hemp for thousands of years; the usage of hemp dates back to the Neolithic Age. Although George Washington and Thomas Jefferson grew hemp, the original Declaration of Independence was written on hemp, and the United States government encouraged farmers to grow hemp during World War II with a “Hemp for Victory” campaign, the cultivation of hemp is prohibited by the United States today. Because of prohibition placed upon farmers in the United States, hemp is now a billion dollar industry. Unfortunately for American farmers, most of the hemp used in the United States is grown by farmers in China and Canada.
